COVID-19 Vaccine Facts



What you need to know:


1. You need TWO doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

a. In order to be the most effective, a second dose 3-4 weeks after the first dose is recommended.

2. If you already had Covid-19, you still need to be vaccinated.

a. Reinfection is a possibility with Covid-19. Therefore, even if you have had Covid, receiving the vaccine will further protect you from getting it again.

3. There are TWO kinds of approved Covid-19 vaccines.

a. Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine

i. This vaccine is for people ages 16 and older. Two doses are required to be taken 21 days apart. It is 95% effective after the second dose.

b. Moderna vaccine

i. This vaccine is for people ages 18 and older. Two doses are required to be taken 28 days apart. It is 94.1% effective after the second dose.

4. There are mild side effects known after receiving the first or second dose.

a. Most side effects happen within the first three days and should only last a couple days. Side effects include but not limited to:

i. Pain, redness or swelling where the shot was given

ii. Fever

iii. Fatigue

iv. Headache

v. Muscle pain

vi. Chills

vii. Joint pain
