May is a month filled with meaningful celebrations and moments of reflection. In hospice care, it gives us an opportunity to recognize the compassion, dedication, and human connection that guide everything we do.
Celebrating National Nurses Week
National Nurses Week, celebrated each year from May 6–12, is a time to recognize the extraordinary nurses who provide comfort, dignity, and support to patients and families every day. In hospice care, nurses are more than medical professionals — they are listeners, advocates, educators, and compassionate companions during some of life’s most important moments. This Nurses Week, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every nurse on our team for the care and compassion they bring to our community each day.

Recognizing Cinco de Mayo and the Importance of Cultural Connection
Cinco de Mayo, observed on May 5, commemorates the Mexican army’s victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. While often associated with celebrations of Mexican heritage and culture, it is also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of cultural understanding and inclusivity in healthcare.
Hospice care is deeply personal, and honoring each patient’s traditions, beliefs, language, and values is essential to providing meaningful support. Cultural traditions often play an important role in how families approach caregiving, grief, spirituality, and end-of-life wishes.
At our hospice, we are committed to providing compassionate care that respects the diverse backgrounds and experiences of every patient and family we serve.
To our nurses, caregivers, patients, families, veterans, and community members: thank you for allowing us to walk alongside you. Your stories, strength, and trust inspire us every day!
