

Why a Hospice Chaplain?
On many occasions, family members or primary caregivers of newly admitted hospice patients would ask me during an initial phone call or visit: “what are you and what exactly do you do in a hospice agency?” I would politely reply to them that “I am a chaplain and I am part of the hospice team.” Initial visits to patients and their family members are always interesting because many often assume that chaplains, as religious leaders, would be there to convert patients and family
